Grayscale sensors share similarities with infrared sensors, but offer unique advantages that infrared sensors lack.
This sensor uses a high-brightness LED light source and a receiver tube that processes varying strengths of reflected light, allowing it to detect differences in reflection intensity. It can effectively recognize surfaces in line-following competitions with green and white, or black and white fields. The larger the color contrast, the better the resolution. Additionally, a custom-designed light-shielding cover further enhances the sensor’s performance.
Digital signals, also known as switch signals, are output at high and low voltage levels, making them ideal for applications where analog-to-digital conversion and complex algorithms are unnecessary. This makes them perfect for line-following smart cars, offering a significant advantage in terms of simplicity and reliability for users.
