Paxcounter: Real-Time Passenger Flow Metering with ESP32
Paxcounter is an ESP32 MCU-based program designed for real-time passenger flow metering by counting nearby mobile devices. It detects Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals, focusing on mobile devices by evaluating their MAC addresses. This system provides an estimate of how many people are in a given area without infringing on privacy.
- Privacy-Focused: Paxcounter does not store MAC addresses or perform any device fingerprinting, ensuring non-intrusive counting of people’s presence.
- Flexible Data Storage: Data can be stored on a local SD card, transferred to the cloud via LoRa WAN, sent through MQTT over TCP/IP, or transmitted to a local host via a serial (SPI) interface.
Disaster.radio: Off-Grid, Solar-Powered Mesh Network
Disaster.radio is a long-range mesh network designed for off-grid and solar-powered use. Built on free, open-source software and affordable hardware, it is designed to be open, distributed, and decentralized. Currently in its prototype/development phase, it aims to provide a reliable communication network in emergency and disaster scenarios.
